Delbert Hoseman, Lieutenant Governor, and Philip Gunn, Speaker of the House of Representatives, were among those who attended the unveiling ceremony of the Blue Star Memorial Marker along with Deep South Garden Clubs, Inc. This Blue Star marker, which now resides at the Capitol, is “a tribute to the Armed Services who have defended the United States of America.”
An unveiling ceremony for the Blue Star Memorial Marker was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2022, on the grounds of the Mississippi State Capitol in Jackson Miss. The marker is a gift to the state of Mississippi from the Deep South Garden Clubs, Inc., and honors all men and women who serve in the United States Armed Services.
The program took place on the North Lawn of the Mississippi State Capitol, with the unveiling on the northwest corner of the grounds.
Deep South Garden Clubs are all of the Federated Garden Clubs in the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
