Strong finish for Pelahatchie High School

Strong finish for Pelahatchie High School

By Guest Columnist Dr. Teague Burchfield, Principal, Pelahatchie High School

May is finally here! As this school year comes to a close and on behalf of the faculty and staff of Pelahatchie High School, I must say how extremely proud we are of our student body. While we have had a tremendous year, there is still much to do to end on a victorious note. I will use this opportunity to highlight several key events that are in our sights.

May is testing season for us at Pelahatchie High School. Our staff has done a tremendous job of educating your kids, and we look forward to their outputs on their “End of Year” assessments. These tests are required for graduation, and it is the expectation for our students to perform at the proficient level (score of 4) or higher. Students will be informed of their responsibilities during these weeks of accountability (May 10-20). Please help us prepare our students for success by ensuring a great night’s rest, a nice breakfast, as well as a positive mindset as they leave for school.

The first week of May also brings our senior’s school year to a close, as their last class day is May 2, with exam days to follow on May 3 and 4. Graduation practice and ceremony expectations have been communicated to our senior class, and we are looking forward to a dignified graduation ceremony at the Muse Center on May 19 at 7 pm.

While the school year has been phenomenal, we are only as good as our last day of work. Therefore, let’s be our best as we wrap this school year in Red and Black! Go Chiefs!
