Trauma Shears

The first of many items to have in your pack are trauma shears. The trauma shears help tear off one’s clothing to get to injuries. Having these specific scissors helps work your way through a patient’s garments to get to their injuries and tend to them right away.

There’s the chance you’re headed to unknown areas or incredibly dark places in every emergency. A flashlight helps navigate you through obstacles while also alerting victims help is nearby. Additionally, a torch is suitable as a self-defense weapon, as it can blind and disorient others in situations where individuals are intoxicated or combative.

Watch

While in the doctor’s office during check-ups, you might’ve noticed nurses or doctors checking their watches while monitoring blood pressure or heartbeats. As an emergency worker, you perform the same actions, especially recording the numbers on a chart.

On an ambulance or the ground, you and your team check a patient’s vitals for any abnormalities. Make sure the watch you buy isn’t expensive but is waterproof.

Pulse Oximeter

A pulse oximeter is what detects a heart’s beat per second. An oximeter is a tool placed onto a patient’s finger to detect a pulse. Once a pulse is found, you can record it.

The pulse oximeter also comes as a portable device to keep on your person. In the case of an unresponsive patient, it’s best to have a portable pulse oximeter so you can attach it right away to get a clear view of their pulsating patterns.
