The Town of Pelahatchie and honored guests gathered for the 2022 Mayor's Breakfast on September 10. The breakfast was held at Pelahatchie Baptist Church.
While guests and volunteers mingled, an abundant breakfast was prepared and set up by: Andy Johns, Gary Carpenter, Jerry Norwood, John Randell Myers, Knox Ross, Jr., Eugene Pennington and Johnny Carter.
The aroma of a southern breakfast was in the air while Rev. Spencer Sullivan delivered the invocation. After the prayer, while guests continued to stand, Eddie Jones led everyone in saying the Pledge of Allegiance and Brenda Sullivan sang the National Anthem.
Mayor Karl VanHorn welcomed and recognized elected officials and City officials: Diane Hill, Alderman Ward I; Sandra Harvey, Alderman Ward 2; Margie Warren, Alderman Ward 3; James Harrell, Alderman Ward 4; Eddie Jones, Alderman at Large; Heather Pennypacker, City Clerk; Robert Mahaffey, Police Chief and Michael Huff, Public Works.
The guest speaker for this year's breakfast was Judge Kent McDaniel. Judge McDaniel spoke about 'how the Bible says we should all try to get along, even if we have reasons to not get along.'
Mayor Karl VanHorn expressed his gratitude, "I want to personally say thank you to everyone that came out this morning [sic] in support of our town and to support the Muscadine Jubilee. Thank you to all the sponsors and volunteers for this event. Without you, this event would not happen. Thank you to Brother Sullivan for allowing the Town of Pelahatchie the use of your fellowship hall,"
Towards the end of the breakfast, door prizes were given to the winners, and the benediction prayer was said by Rev. Jerry Hamilton.
