The 2020 edition of Mississippi State Hospital’s Serendipity art show and silent auction is being conducted as an online-only event concluding on Thursday, Sept. .
The unique show, now available for viewing and placing bids, features the work of MSH patients and Jaquith Nursing Home residents who are taking part in the hospital’s Art Services program.
Patrons can visit a virtual gallery to preview the work at bit.ly/2ZUL50m and post bids on items at myminiauction.com/serendipity until 6:0 p.m. on Sept. . Winning bidders will be contacted on Sept. 4 to arrange for payment and pickup of artwork. Shipping will be available for an additional fee.
For more information about the show, call the Public Relations Department at (601) 51-8018.
One hundred works will be on display this year from about 40 different artists. All proceeds go to the artists. The pieces up for auction include watercolor and acrylic paintings, pencil and color pencil drawings, oil pastels "scratch art" pieces, a paper-mache mask and one mixed-media sculpture.
The work displayed in the show is produced by individuals from across the hospital’s services, including adults and children. For many, it is an important part of the therapeutic process as it gives them a chance to express themselves through their artwork.
MSH’s art instructors are Ceci Whitehurst and Ricky Shelby.
