The East Rankin Academy (ERA) Shooting Team won the 2020 MSSP (Mississippi Scholastic Shooting Program) Overall State Shooting Tournament held June 25-26 at the McIvor Shooting Facility in Sardis, Mississippi. Eighth-grader Brayden Warner was the overall combined winner of the fifth annual Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries & Parks (MDWFP)-sponsored event in which ERA won a trophy for their first-place finish. They competed against the top 150 sporting clay, skeet, and trap shooters from 30 public and private schools from around the state. ERA students won over $7000 of the $10,000 in scholarships presented at the June event. Winners are listed by categories. They also won buckles. Brayden Warner won Combine HOA; Sporting Clay HOA; Trap Third Place Male; Brayden Warner, Gabe Nutt, Lana Jones won Combine HOA Squad; Sporting Clay First Place Squad; and Skeet First Place Squad; Hudson Bynum won Combine First Place Male; Sporting Clay First Place Male; and Skeet Third Place Male; Hudson Bynum, Ashton Buffington, Addison Brown won Combine Third Place Squad; Sporting Clay Second Place Squad; Skeet First Place Squad; Lana Jones won Combine Second Place Female; Sporting Clay Third Place Female; Skeet First Place Female; and Trap Third Place Female; Addison Brown won Sporting Clay Second Place Female; and Skeet Second Place Female; Ben Carter, Knox Ross, Brock Tullos won Combine Second Place Squad; Sporting Clay Third Place Squad; and Skeet Third Place Squad Knox Ross won Skeet Second Place Male According to Michelle Carter, MDWFP director of outreach, that due to COVID-19, the awards video will be posted online.
