Pelahatchie High School (PHS) recognizes the "Chieftan Award" as an award that goes beyond academics and looks at the character of an individual. The school asks teachers to nominate students for behavior, attendance, citizenship, and other characteristics that exemplify what it means to be a Chief.

PHS recognizes that the “Academic Achievement" award speaks for itself. These are the students who work diligently to complete all assignments to the best of their ability.”
