The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) launched its new MEMA Media Guidebook. The information in this Guidebook is to assist media partners when covering a natural or man-made disaster. Inside, partners will find information about the disaster declaration process for requesting assistance, plus resources available to the media before, during, and after an incident. The MEMA Media Guidebook is a general overview of the agency but provides detailed information tailored to journalists and their questions during disasters.
“During an emergency, one of our biggest partners is the media. They are valuable in getting the right message out at the right time so the public can make the right decisions. This guidebook was written by former journalists who now work in the MEMA Office of External Affairs,” says MEMA’s Chief Communications Officer, Malary White.
