Like many churches, Eastside Baptist Church was closed in the summer of 2020 due to COVID. The church re-opened in February 2021 when Rev. Robin Brumfield, who has a doctorate in practical ministry, was hired to preach at the church. Eastside Baptist Church (EBC) is approximately 50 years old.
The church built a new sanctuary in 2000. The inside construction of this building is built with Colorado Aspen Pine.
Rev. Brumfield has 35 years of pastoral experience. He also has 30 years as a test engineer at Raytheon Systems Company. Brumfield is also an author of two ministry books: Tentmakers Guide To Ministry and Conquering the Inevitable. He earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from Luther Rice Seminary.
Joey White, deacon, is the worship leader. He offers a blend of hymns and contemporary music. Music plays a big part of the worship experience at Eastside, which goes hand-in-hand. He grew up at EBC church and has 28 years of ministry experience at EBC. White uses humor as a part of his worship.
Haylee James is the audio/visual technical member of the church. Much of the media presented before the sermon is done by her. She is known for having a real gift for adding video clips to enhance the worship at Eastside.
Today, Eastside is a new church. It has the same name and location from the past, but Eastside has a new community emphasis and ministry, a new friendly fellowship and has new Bible-centered sermons explaining how the Scriptures apply to daily living. The first Saturday of every month, the church holds Couples Night Out, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. During Couples Night Out, the church provides games, free snacks and drinks for children ages five years and older.
EBC invites all to Sunday School at 10 a.m. and then Worship Service at 11 a.m. The church is located at 1143 Noblin Bridge Road, in Pelahatchie.
