Rhodes for MS District 36

Rhodes for MS District 36

Rankin County farmer and businessman Brian Rhodes filed to run for state senate at 10 a.m. today on the first day of candidate qualifying. Rhodes is running as a Republican in the newly drawn Senate District 36, which includes Smith County and a portion of Rankin County.

At the Mississippi Republican Party headquarters in Jackson, where he filed papers to officially qualify as a candidate, Brian Rhodes said, “Ashley and I are excited about this campaign and the opportunity to share our vision for the future of Smith and Rankin counties and Senate District 36. As a conservative farmer and small business owner who has been deeply involved in Farm Bureau and other organizations in our community, I seek to bring a wealth of practical, real-world experience to the state senate along with a commitment to transparency and responsiveness for our citizens. Ultimately this is about leaving Mississippi a better place for not just for my children but for all of our children.”

Brian Rhodes is a Christian, a husband, a father, a farmer, and a conservative Republican. A life-long resident of Rankin County, Rhodes is a third-generation poultry and cattle farmer. He bought his first poultry farm while in college in 2007. In 2008, he married the former Ashley Laird of Morton. Together they own ten poultry houses and a cow-calf operation of about 100 head of commercial beef cattle.

Ashley and Brian are both graduates of East Rankin Academy and Mississippi State University. They’ve been married for 14 years and have three children – two daughters and a son. Ashley taught in the Rankin County school district for five years before becoming a full-time homemaker.
