MID-European Promenade

Dr. Stephen W. Sachs, pianist extraordinaire, is featured soloist for the Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra’s season finale, “Mid-European Promenade”, St. Andrews Episcopal Cathedral, downtown Jackson, May 7, 2023, at 3 p.m. He will be performing Mozart’s “Piano Concerto No. 21” for piano and orchestra.

 

Dr. Sachs is Professor Emeritus at Belhaven University where he was Music Chair from 2004-2019 and Dean of Fine Arts from 2015-2017. He was Professor of Music at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, VA, serving from 1978-2004.

 

Opening with the “Light Cavalry Overture”/ von Suppe, followed by Mozart’s piano and orchestra Concerto, and ending with Dvorak’s “Slavonic Dances”, it promises to be a most enjoyable musical experience.

 

The MCO has been offering the gift of classical chamber music to the Jackson community free of charge since 1984. Made up of around 40 non-professional and professional musicians, the group offers three concerts each season. The group is under the direction of Artistic Director Wayne Linehan, Concertmaster Zakary Joyner, and Concertmaster Emeritus, Ryan Rogers.
