Colonel Tate retires for US Army

Pelahatchie native and Northwest Rankin High School graduate Jason Tate, retired from the U.S. Army, November 1, 2024, as a Colonel, with more than 26 years of service.

The ceremony at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala., was officiated by Brigadier General Retired Al Abramson.

Colonel Tate is a decorated combat veteran with tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He is the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal and Legion of Merit Medal.

Colonel Tate also holds a PhD in Management from Walden University. During his career, he served in a variety of positions culminating with his final assignment as the Search, Track, Acquire, Eliminate (STARE) Project Manager, a job where he managed the Army’s Tactical Radars.

Colonel Tate is a 1998 graduate of Tougaloo College with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and is married to the former Kandie S. Stovall, M.D. of Huntsville, Ala. They have three sons, Noah, Nathan, and Nicholas.

Colonel Tate is the son of Joe and Brenda Tate of Pelahatchie.
