Pelahatchie PD receives equipment donations

Pelahatchie PD receives equipment donations

The Madison/Rankin District Attorney’s Office recently purchased new ballistic vests, flashlights and holsters for the Pelahatchie Police Department. D.A. Bubba Bramlett reached out to Chief of Police Robert Mahaffey in recent months to inquire about equipment needs for the officers. At the time, officers were wearing expired ballistic vests donated by another agency that were lacking some basic needs such as rechargeable flashlights, and modern holsters to accommodate weapon lights.

Bramlett, formerly the city judge in Pelahatchie prior to being appointed DA in July, 2015, said, "We are fortunate to have a fund that allows us to assist law enforcement. Chief Mahaffey told us about the needs, and we were glad to provide the necessary equipment. Pelahatchie is very near and dear to me. My office will continue to support where we can."

Chief Mahaffey said, "Smaller police departments such as Pelahatchie Police Department (P.D.) often struggle to fund some of the most basic equipment for its officers. D.A. Bramlett recognized that, and his contribution will aid these officers in the performance of their duties, allowing them to work safer and more effectively. We are very grateful for D. A. Bramlett’s donation and support of the Pelahatchie Police Department."
