Easy Tips for Keeping Your Car or Truck Organized

Organizing your vehicle doesn’t need to be a huge project. Use these simple tips to keep your car or truck from accumulating a giant and embarrassing mess.
Easy Tips for Keeping Your Car or Truck Organized

We’re all guilty of using the back seat of our car as a garbage can at times. With as much traffic as your car’s interior sees, it isn’t really a surprise when it gathers clutter in a short amount of time. You don’t have much room in your car to work with, so every bit of space needs a purpose if you want to avoid having a massive backseat disaster zone. Here are a few easy tips for keeping your car or truck organized that don’t take lots of extra effort.

Organize the Center Console

The center console is another one of those areas of a car where stuff ends up when we can’t find any other place for it. An easy way to ensure everything has its own spot is to use a desk organizer in your center console. Find one that will fit into the bottom of your console, and you’ll immediately have a much easier way to keep small items organized rather than in a jumbled pile.

Keep a Planner in the Glove Box

It doesn’t matter whether you’re trying to organize a new Tesla or clean up the family minivan—the glove box is usually an area you need to consider. Most people use the glove box to store important documents and files related to their car. A planner or binder can make finding these documents easier and quicker. You should keep instruction manuals, repair receipts, your registration, and proof of insurance ready to go with a neatly organized binder.

Use Totes in the Trunk for Storage

Another easy tip for keeping your car or truck organized is to prevent yourself from being able to just absentmindedly throw things in random places. Trunk space is practical, but it quickly disappears when you toss items in the back without thinking. Tote bins can be effective reminders to keep your trunk organized. They can also help with tasks like bringing a large load of groceries in all at once.

Make Your Own Trash Can

Trash is inevitable in a vehicle, especially if you frequent drive-throughs regularly. If you want a more elegant solution than an old grocery bag hanging from your seat, you’re in luck. This is easy to fix. Large plastic cereal containers make great garbage bins for vehicles. Just line the inside with a bag, and you have an easily resealable container for all your trash that you can toss without any hassle.
