As a commercial truck driver, you’re used to living life on the road, and you know it doesn’t take much for a cab to get dirty.
But in the winter, it can be hard to spend more time outdoors than necessary. This is why many people clean out their vehicles when the weather starts to warm up! Here are some spring cleaning tips for your commercial truck.
Wipe Everything Down
You may touch many things like door handles, card readers, and more as you travel around the country. After a long day of driving, it can be tempting to drive away without applying hand sanitizer. As a result, you may inadvertently bring bacteria back into your vehicle.
Be sure to wipe down your interior with antibacterial wipes to remove germs from your space. Before doing this, you’ll want to toss any trash that might’ve accumulated during your trip to ensure you start with a clean area.
Shampoo the Carpet and Seats
We put our cars through a lot, including spilled coffee, food stains, and more. Try vacuuming and shampooing your carpets and seats to remove any stains that have been there for who-knows-how-long!
Dirt and debris can easily collect and seep into the fibers of your interior. Therefore, don’t forget this step when it’s time for spring cleaning. You might vacuum regularly to prevent dirt buildup as well.
Clean Sleeping Quarters
Your sleeper berth is where you get to rest and get a good night’s sleep. But it can be a challenge to relax appropriately when the area is dirty and unkempt. Be sure to clear your sleeping quarters of trash, food, messy blankets, and more. You might also clean the windows around the area to let the sunshine in!
Replace the Air Filter
Your vehicle’s air filter prevents excess dust and dirt from entering the cabin, thus protecting your lungs and overall health. Experts recommend replacing cabin air filters every six months or 15,000 to 25,000 miles, which is easy for commercial drivers.
Head to your vehicle’s engine and take out the current filter. Then, install the new filter, and place it back into its space, clicking the proper levers back into place. While working with your engine, be sure to troubleshoot potential engine problems that typically occur in commercial trucks.
These spring cleaning tips for your commercial truck will help you have a spotless truck that you’ll be excited to enter every trip! Keep in mind that these are tasks you should consider doing at least every three months.
